What We Do

WE MAKE DISCIPLES & PLANT CHURCHES

"Doing” has to do with mission. Mission answers the question, “what do you exist to do?” Every good organization has a mission statement. They got the idea from Jesus. Jesus Christ spoke the first mission statement to his followers in Matthew 28.18-20.

[18] And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. [19] Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, [20] teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (ESV)

We exist to make disciples and plant churches in Bremerton, Kitsap, and beyond.
[a disciple is someone who follows Jesus and helps others do the same]

We make disciples by Drawing to Christ, Developing in Community & Deploying to Culture.  Everything we do fits into this mission.

Draw to Christ

Luke 15.1 says that sinners were drawing near to Jesus. We join in a long line of sinners who have gone before us drawing near to Him. This is the central defining act of our mission. We want to know Jesus. He is is our Savior, Lord, and leader. We draw to Christ personally through reading God’s word and praying. We draw to Christ corporately every week at our Sunday gathering where we learn, celebrate, and worship Him!

Develop in Community

God exists in a “community,” Father, Son, and Spirit. In that sense He has never been alone. Jesus’ pattern for spiritual growth was in a group. He called his disciples to follow him individually but then placed them with others to follow him together. You can’t follow Jesus alone! Not only do you need others but others need you. We develop and grow as His followers as we are connected to community. We practice this through a variety of community and growth opportunities. This would include Community Groups, smaller Bible Groups (2-4), as well as SeasideKids, SeasideYouth, and various classes and events we offer.

Deploy to culture.

Jesus himself came to those far from Him and sends all he has saved to go and represent him to a needy world. We don’t run from the culture around us but engage it through love, service, relevant outreach, and friendship. We do this so that we can help others draw to Christ, then develop in Community, and finally go back into culture to reach more people with the gospel. All of this is done for the glory of God.
